Revlon Fabulash Mascara

My favorite mascara of the moment is by far the Revlon Fabulash Mascara. This mascara is inexpensive and amazing. There is no fallout while wearing this mascara which is a huge plus. Fabulash makes my lashes look thick and voluminous. My eyelashes are blonde, so when I am not wearing mascara, it looks like I have zero eyelashes. After one coat, which is how many coats I have on in the picture, it pulls any look all together. I also did not curl my lashes before this picture so you get a true idea of what this mascara can do on its own. I am soo happy I stumbled across this mascara!! :) Xo

My signature scent

I like to think of perfume as the the final touch of your outfit before you walk out the door. After your hair, makeup and clothes are all put on, perfume pulls it all together. I like a perfume that isn't overwhelming but adds to your presence. My all time favourite is without a doubt Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. This perfume is named the "man catcher" and I can see why. (No that is not what initially drew me to the scent..) I have never gotten soo many compliments on a scent as I do when I wear then this one. It is described as "a sexy crisp scent' and I would have to agree. The great thing about this perfume is the more you wear it the more is meshes with your natural chemistry and begins to smell even better. It is so pigmented in its notes that when I wear it and then put on a scarf, I can smell it on that scarf weeks later. Top notes are: Sicilian cedar, apple, and bluebells to evoke the essence of a South Italian summer. Heart note: bamboo, jasmine and white rose. Base note: citron wood, amber and musk. This fragrance retails for 108.00 at Sears for the 100 ml size (there is also a 50 ml option for 79.00) that I have and I can say it is worth every penny. I only use one squirt on the base of my hair line on the back of my neck and thats all I need. The fragrance lasts longer on the hair and the heat from the back of my neck intensifies the scent. One bottle lasts forever! I cannot say enough good about this perfume and I would reccomend it to anyone! Five stars! Xo

Photo of the week..

For the past few months animal print, leopard and snake in particular, has been on my mind. I think that if done right, meaning sticking to one piece per outfit, animal print can be absolutely stunning. There is something so wild and primal about it, making it my go to pattern. It is effortlessly sexy and in my opinion will never go out of style. Play up a leopard shirt with a glamourous smokey eye, like Angelina, and you are ready to take on the town.

Also, I am LOVING the REVLON Fabulash mascara in 01 blackest black. As much as I am willing to pay for and love high end makeup, I have been able to find drugstore mascara that is equally as amazing for a fraction of the price. If you are like me and enjoy mascaras that give you tons of volume, thickness and almost a black fan look to your lashes, then this mascara is fabulous for you! I purchase the majority of any drugstore makeup I buy at Wal-Mart as it is typically always cheaper. This mascara is $8.49 there and in my opinion, amazing. It is my current go-to drugstore mascara and I am in love!! Xo

Loving what you do

As I get ready for my day of work at the salon, I came across this photo and thought about the importance of the message it sends.
There was a time in my life, before the time that I wanted to be a mermaid, that I wanted to be a doctor. I was set for years that this was the path I was going to take. When I got into my 11th year in high school I then realized that that was not what I wanted for my life. I wanted to travel the world and be home if need be. The life of a doctor is one of stress and responsibility. I wanted a different life. A life of exploration and new experiences. (Not that a doctor cannot obtain those things..) So when the time came to send off my university courses, something in my gut told me not to. So, I didnt. I took 6 months off and really focused on what makes me happy. I discovered that the beauty/fashion industry is where I belong.
So when I read this photo, I felt a sense of happiness and contentment. I did the right thing by going with my gut. I hope everyone is doing something that brings them joy because if it does, it doesnt even feel like work. And that is a blessing. Xo

My definition of beauty

I have been thinking alot lately as to what is the definition of beauty. Society seems to think its a size zero girl with wavy blonde hair and big boobs. I find this definition very limiting and believe that there is sooo much more to beauty. First off I think that the thing that makes someone beautiful comes from the inside out. If you are a person who is beautiful on the inside and has a beautiful core then that seeps out into your physical appearance.

Beauty is biological. It is in our biology to be attracted to what we consider beautiful, therefore it plays a huge part in our lives. Im not talking about the size zero blonde beauty, unless thats what you naturally are. I am talking about the beauty that is you. Just being you makes you beautiful. Every person is unique and that makes us beautiful. I have been learning to embrace my differences and uniqueness and believe it is an essential step in being more confident and productive in the world. If you feel amazing from the inside out, there is nothing you cant face.

That being said, I believe that beauty of the physical kind is defined by being confident in ones body and loving/embracing your whole self from the inside out. A woman who does this (or a man..) is absolutely beautiful in my opinion. That, to me, is the definition of beauty. Xo

2012 NY resolutions..

*Pay off student loan. - I hate knowing that something is looming over me. I want financial freedom interms of knowing that I don't owe the government or anyone anything.

*Start a beauty/Fashion blog. - Fashion and beauty from the inside out is my passion and living in Saint John doesn't give me much of an outlet to allowing this passion to flourish. This way I can express my opinion on fashion and beauty and connect with people who also adore it.

*Have a get together for anyone who knew/loved Deanna in her honour. - My aunt knew and loved many people and many loved her in return so it would be nice to gather a load of these people for a dinner or event so everyone can get together and swap stories about my lovely aunt.

*Go camping. - This may seem like a simple goal but it hasn't happened in many years and it is about time.

*Become the healthiest I have ever been. Excercise, fitness, meditation, nutrition, sleep, visit specialists. - I am happier then I have ever been therefore I would like my appearance and health to reflect that.

*Start a retirement account. - I would like to begin an account so by the time I retire I can live comfortably.

*Volunteer/donate. - This I feel is extreamly important because I believe we are extremely lucky and there are sooo many people who are not quite so lucky so I feel it is a duty to help those who need it most.

*Create a 5yr buisness plan. - This is critical so that I get a focus on how I generally want my professional life to progress.

*Purchase a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30. - Needs no explanation. Hello lover.

*Do a simple random act of kindness every single day. - This I feel is important because I know how amazing it is when people do kind things seemingly out of no where so I would hope that I would be able to offer that little bit of happiness to someone else.

*Create a visual wish board. - I believe that visualization is a huge tool to help focus on what you want out of life and to keep focus on the things you would like to achieve. This tool is helpful to see everything you know you want every single and be focused on it.

* Go on atleast one big trip this year, doesn't matter where just go somewhere exciting. Going to New york for sure but its time for Europe. - Travelling is one of my biggest passions and it brings me some of the greatest happiness in my life. Therefore it is extreamly important that I do lots of it!
Over the past year I have become very proactive in my life. The way I go about being proactive is by making lists and taking great joy in checking things off of it. I did really well on my list for 2011 and am looking forward to living life in 2o12, while doing all the things on my list.
Please write one for yourself and do everything you can on it! Xo
